Music Class

During the 2010-2011 school year, your child will be participating in a weekly music class that is being taught by Mrs. Donna Whitlock. Mrs. Donna has a great knowledge of the music field and we are very excited that she has come on board with us to help your child learn all about music! Mrs. Donna will be introducing your child to different musical instruments and songs throughout the school year! Each class will be attending music one day per week for 30 - 45 minutes depending on their age.

Mrs. Sue and Ms. Lynn's Beary Terrific Twos

Mrs. Sue Tillman and Ms. Lynn Cook are our two year old teachers. Some of the things that your child should know at the end of this class are:

1. Social interaction
2. Potty achievement
3. Recognize their colors
4. Say their alphabet
5. Count from 0-10
6. Recognize basic shapes (square, triangle, circle,...)
7. Pledge of Allegiance
8. Listen quietly to short stories

Mrs. Michelle and Ms. Mandy's Three Year Old Classes

We have two three year old classes that are taught by Mrs. Michelle Mothershed and Ms. Mandy Henry. Some of the things that your child should know at the end of this class include:

1. Recognize his/her name in print
2. Be able to trace his/her name
3. Recognize and randomly point to the different letters in the alphabet
4. Count from 0-20
5. Trace his/her alphabet
6. Be able to name the months of the year
7. Be able to identify the days of the week
8. Be able to quietly listen to short stories and recall details
9. Be able to properly use scissors, crayons, and pencils
10. Be able to recognize the beginning sound of words (apple, banana, zoo,....)
11. Recognize shapes in their environment (square, triangle, circle...)

Mrs. Crystal's and Mrs. Julie's Fantastic Fours

Our four year old class is taught by Crystal Carter. Some of the things that your child should learn in this class include:

1. Count from 0-100 by ones, twos, fives, and tens
2. Add whole numbers up to 10 (2+2, 3+5, 4+5, 5+5, ....)
3. Write his/her first and last name independently
4. Spell the most common sight words in books (the, and, he, she, is, was, said, can, up,....)
5. Identify the months of the year
6. Identify the days of the week
7. Be able to recall events from a story
8. Identify word families (start with the word at; add a b and you get bat.......)
9. Tell basic time using an analog clock (12:00, 3:30, 9:00.....)
10.Know opposites and position words
11. Recognize different shapes in their environment and how many sides each one has (rectangle, square, circle, triangle, etc...)
